The difference between an addition and a bolt-on is whether the rooflines, the window proportions and the trim details carry over from the original house. In older greater Boston housing stock, that takes deliberate work.
We build additions from the foundation up, and we work closely with architects to help make your home's plans a reality — including handling the coordination where a project needs permits and inspections.
Tied into the existing structure
Foundations, framing and roof tie-ins are engineered to work with what is already there rather than around it. Inside, floor heights, door casings and trim profiles are matched so the new rooms do not announce themselves.
Permits, inspections and the architect
Where a project needs drawings, permits and inspections we coordinate them, and we work alongside your architect or designer throughout. Getting involved early is the point — it is far cheaper to solve a problem on paper.
